Great crested grebe family, Ham Wall, June 2018

I hesitate to include this one as a "finished" painting. This was a case of me getting stuck in to the painting without thinking properly in advance about the composition. And the composition doesn't really work! So as a sketch it is not going anywhere further. I did try re-working it in the studio as a pastel painting, but that didn't come off. Some things are best left, and although it does capture something of that still evening at Ham Wall, I don't think I'd frame it and hang it on the wall.
